Books

Growing up I always read a lot. I'm a compulsive reader and I was lucky enough because my mom never never said no when I wanted to buy a new book. And now I can't read. I'm unable to concentrate, I forget what I read so I keep reading the same pages and if the story is deeper I tend to cry while reading. I get frustrated so most of the times I don't even try anymore. I try to protect myself and so I avoid reading. I want to start reading again as I used to. I have the 4th book of Outlander to finish (I can't even think about that!) and I have a big pile of books in my bedroom to read!

Books are like an escape. You can imagine everything that you are reading and you, at least I do that, can see yourself in the story the book is telling. Books open you imagination and help you be more imaginative and creative. They enlarge our knowledge, our interpretive capacity and our memory and concentration. When I was younger while I was reading adventure books I always imagined myself in those situations and most of the times I used to dream about what I read!

I have to thank the books for having had one of the most creative, imaginary, most vivid childhoods. I was a very happy child and this is partly due to the books I read. And I think that's why it's been hard not to be able to read now. It could be an escape to this thing but now it just helps it. Step by step I'm going to try to start reading again. Even if it's only a page a day. And I'm going to start with police books. They are easy to read (I used to read one per day!).

"Read to me riddles and read to me rhymes
Read to me stories of magical times
Read to me tales about castles and kings
Read to me stories of fabulous things
Read to me pirates and read to me knights
Read to me dragons and dragon-book fights
Read to me spaceships and cowboys and then
When you are finished- please read them again."
